UCSC

So I'm sitting here in my little apt. in Santa Cruz and my roommates are both on the phone. One is speaking Mandarin (or Cantanese) and the other is speaking Farsi. I feel like a dumb American. Mimi from Hong Kong (that's how she introduces herself and I love it!) told my parents yesterday that English is her turciary language. !? It means third, but geezy creezy. Oh, I live in the International Living Center. Mimi is from Hong Kong and Hanieh is a Persian girl from Sweden. At least I know where Sweden and China are. Hanieh is pronounced "honey". I consider myself open-minded, but I can't get used to calling another girl "honey". I have yet to address her directly. I'll get over it.
Sweden is still nocturnal so I feel like I can't go in our room during the day because I don't want to wake her.

I now sleep in a bunk bed 5 or 6 feet off the ground. I used to sleep in a queen bed on the floor. So after I finally managed to fall asleep without Lauren I kept waking up every half hour because I was afraid I was gonna roll myself out of the bed. I feel like I'm nesting when I climb into bed. Maybe it's the height of the bed but I think it also has something to do with the redwood forrest right outside our window.
